A Birmingham resident has been sentenced to 20 years in federal prison on charges related to guns and drugs, according to an announcement from U.S. Attorney Prim F. Escalona.

Isaiah De’Monte De’Mario Henley, 31, received a 240-month sentence from U.S. District Court Judge Anna Manasco. In March 2025, Henley pleaded guilty to multiple offenses, including distribution of methamphetamine and fentanyl, possession with intent to distribute both substances, carrying a firearm during a drug trafficking crime, possession of a machine gun, and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Court records indicate that in July and August 2024, Henley sold methamphetamine and fentanyl to a confidential informant on three occasions. On August 8, 2024, law enforcement attempted to arrest him following another sale in West Birmingham. During the arrest attempt, Henley fled into a residence, dropped a bag, exited through the back door, and threw away a Glock 9mm pistol fitted with a “Glock switch,” or machine gun-conversion device. Officers later recovered the weapon along with an extended magazine loaded with ammunition, 465 grams of methamphetamine, and over seven grams of fentanyl.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation worked on the case alongside the Vestavia Hills Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Brittany T. Byrd prosecuted the matter.
