U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) has joined Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-IA) and other lawmakers in asking four telecommunications companies to provide Congress with all records that were given to former Special Counsel Jack Smith. The request comes in response to the FBI's recent disclosure that the Biden administration accessed the private phone calls of eight U.S. Senators, including Senator Tuberville, during Jack Smith’s investigation into the events of January 6.
Last week, several Senators sent a letter to the Department of Justice and FBI, demanding that all records related to this matter be produced.
In their latest move, Senators Tuberville and Grassley, along with Senators Ron Johnson (R-WI), Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), Lindsey Graham (R-SC), Bill Hagerty (R-TN), Josh Hawley (R-MO), Cynthia Lummis (R-WY), Dan Sullivan (R-AK), John Cornyn (R-TX), Mike Lee (R-UT), Ted Cruz (R-TX), Thom Tillis (R-NC), John Kennedy (R-LA), Eric Schmitt (R-MO), Katie Britt (R-AL), and Ashley Moody (R-FL), as well as Representative Mike Kelly (R-PA), sent letters to the telecommunications companies requesting information.
Senator Tuberville said, "The FBI recently revealed that the Biden administration spied on the private phone calls of 8 U.S. Senators, including Sen. Tuberville, as part of Jack Smith’s investigation. Last week, the Senators sent a letter demanding the DOJ and FBI produce all records relating to the matter."
Senator Tuberville serves Alabama in the U.S. Senate and is a member of the Senate Armed Services, Agriculture, Veterans’ Affairs, HELP, and Aging Committees.
