The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) is set to commence a significant rehabilitation project on the Dauphin Island Bridge, situated on SR-193. The initiative aims to prolong the bridge's lifespan and enhance safety for drivers.

The project is scheduled to start on September 30, 2025, and will focus on bridge rehabilitation and corrosion mitigation at various points along the 3.45-mile-long structure. During construction, motorists can expect daily lane closures within the work zone, with one-lane, signalized flagging operations in place during these closures. ALDOT advises drivers to reduce speed and adhere to posted signs.

The project carries an estimated cost of $33.66 million and will be executed by Southern Road & Bridge, LLC. Completion is anticipated by early 2029, depending on weather conditions.

As construction begins, drivers will notice crews and equipment present on the bridge. ALDOT expresses gratitude for public patience and emphasizes the importance of safety during this period.
