Walker County man receives nine-year sentence for methamphetamine possession

A Walker County resident has been sentenced to nine years in federal prison for a drug-related offense, according to an announcement from U.S. Attorney Prim F. Escalona.

U.S. District Court Judge Anna M. Manasco handed down a 108-month sentence to Shannon Wayne Herron, 50, of Jasper, Alabama. Herron pleaded guilty in February to possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine.

Court documents state that on November 1, 2023, detectives from the Jasper Police Department Narcotics Unit executed a search warrant at a residence in Jasper. During the search, officers found 366 grams of pure methamphetamine, marijuana, a digital scale, a ledger with names and dollar amounts listed beside them, four cell phones, and about $1,800 in cash.

The investigation was conducted by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Jasper Police Department Narcotics Unit. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Kristy Peoples.
