NFIB members congregated in Montgomery on March 12 for the annual Small Business Day at the Capitol. This event facilitates engagement and discussion between small business owners and state officials.

During this year's event, attendees met with Gov. Kay Ivey’s deputy chief of staff, Brooks McClendon, and Secretary of State Pat Harris. Additionally, presentations were given by Stephanie Smith, president of the Alabama Public Policy Institute, and Kailah Dozier, director of marketing at the Alabama Community College System's Innovation Center. The day also included a tour of the Alabama House of Representatives led by Clay Redden, the House public information officer.

“This was a great event that give our members and guests the opportunity to speak with state leaders and learn more about the issues facing Alabama’s small businesses,” NFIB State Director Rosemary Elebash remarked. She extended gratitude to all speakers, saying, “I want to thank all of our speakers for taking the time to engage with our members about the challenges facing them.”

Participants gathered for a group photo at the State Capitol. In the front row were Ada Bickerstaff, Rob Pirnie, Amy Connell, David Pinkleton, Corey Hill, Don Morgan, and Elienna Minniefield. The second row included NFIB State Director Rosemary Elebash, Sams Elebash, Angela James, Stacia Robinson, Gwyn Pirnie, Allen McBride, Lisa Wilton, Chris Wilton, and Allen Patterson. The back row featured David Schmidt, Murray Edwards, Matt Ward, Dell Hill, Les Barnett, Russ Greenhalgh, Dr. Mickey Golden, Kevin Forsyth, and NFIB Senior Grassroots Manager Blake Glinn.
