A federal jury in Montgomery has found Jeffery Wayne Parker, a 52-year-old resident of Troy, Alabama, guilty of being a felon in possession of a firearm. The verdict was announced on August 12, 2025, according to Acting United States Attorney Kevin Davidson.

Court records and evidence from the trial show that deputies from the Pike County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at Parker’s home on October 10, 2023. When officers arrived, Parker attempted to flee out the back door but stopped when ordered by law enforcement.

Upon approaching Parker, deputies saw he had a handgun holstered at his waist. A further search of his vehicle parked nearby led to the discovery of 21 additional firearms stored in the trunk. The weapons included 14 shotguns and rifles as well as seven handguns. Federal law prohibits individuals with felony convictions from possessing firearms or ammunition.

Parker now faces up to 15 years in federal prison as a result of this conviction. There is no possibility for parole under the federal system.

The case was investigated by both the Pike County Sheriff’s Office and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). Assistant United States Attorneys Paul Markovits and J. Patrick Lamb prosecuted the case.
