FOIA Request to Troy University Regarding Chinese National Students on June 4, 2025.
As part of our commitment to transparency and accountability in local governmental affairs, Yellowhammer Times has submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to Troy University. The request seeks detailed information about Chinese National students currently enrolled at the university. Specifically, we have asked for documents or lists that show all current students who are Chinese Nationals and their respective departments of study. If this information is protected, we have requested a total number of such students broken down by department.
Additionally, we are seeking records detailing any scholarships awarded to these students, including the amount and source of each scholarship. We have also requested information about recipients of scholarships affiliated with the Chinese Scholarship Council.
Furthermore, we have asked for any policies or procedures that describe how the university monitors students, including Chinese Nationals, to protect its Intellectual Property and other confidential information.
This request is made on behalf of Yellowhammer Times and The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy. As media professionals dedicated to gathering and reporting news to the public, access to public records is essential for fulfilling our responsibilities. We believe this request serves the public interest by promoting transparency within educational institutions.
