Alabama has initiated the process for the upcoming November 5 general election by dispatching absentee ballots. This action positions Alabama as the first state in the union to mail out these ballots for the election.
Alabama residents who prefer to vote through absentee ballots must adhere to specific deadlines. According to state guidelines, absentee ballot applications sent by mail need to be received at the county's Absentee Election Manager's office at least seven days before the election. For applications submitted in person, the deadline is five days before the election.
Furthermore, absentee ballots sent back via mail must reach the Absentee Election Manager's office by noon on election day. If voters choose to deliver their absentee ballots personally, the ballots are required to arrive at the Absentee Election Manager's office by 5 p.m. the day before the election.
