The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) is set to observe National Engineers Week from February 16-22, 2025. This event, initiated by the National Society of Professional Engineers (NPSE), aims to foster a diverse and well-educated engineering workforce by promoting interest in engineering and technology careers.

Engineers Week is a collaboration involving over 70 engineering, education, and cultural societies, alongside more than 50 corporations and government agencies. The week focuses on highlighting engineers' contributions to quality of life and encouraging technical education among students.

The theme for the 2025 Engineers Week is "Design Your Future." It encourages individuals to "dream boldly, innovate relentlessly," aiming to inspire a future shaped by collective ingenuity.

During this week, ALDOT plans to highlight the impact of engineers on society and engage the public in discussions about the importance of engineering. An event titled "Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day" will be held on Monday, February 17. Organized with the American Society of Civil Engineers – Mobile Branch and local industry professionals at the Exploreum Science Center in Mobile, it will provide 75-100 high school students with insights into potential engineering careers.
