Washington, D.C.,  – U.S. Senator Katie Britt (R-Ala.), a member of the Energy and Water Subcommittee of the Senate Committee on Appropriations, recently joined Senator Dan Sullivan (R-Alaska) and a bipartisan group of six of their colleagues in introducing legislation to prohibit the Biden Administration from banning gas stoves.

The “Save Our Gas Stoves Act” explicitly bars the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) from implementing a proposed rule that would impose intrusive and costly standards on the residential stovetops of millions of Americans. Companion legislation was introduced in the House by Representative Debbie Lesko (R-Ariz.).

“There is perhaps no greater example of government overreach than the radical attempts to eradicate the use of gas stoves,” said Senator Britt. “I’m proud to join Senator Sullivan and my colleagues in introducing this commonsense measure to ensure that hardworking American families continue to have access to affordable appliance choices for their homes.”

Senators Britt and Sullivan were joined by Senators Joni Ernst (R-Iowa), Deb Fischer (R-Neb.), Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.), Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.), Markwayne Mullin (R-Okla.), and Ted Budd (R-N.C.). Senator Manchin serves as Chairman of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee.

Companion legislation passed the House of Representatives in a bipartisan vote last week.
