A Mobile resident, Jason Jones, 46, has been sentenced to 210 months in federal prison for producing child pornography and attempting to entice a minor. Court documents show that during 2024, Jones posed as a teenage boy on online platforms like Snap Chat to persuade young girls to send him pornographic images. He communicated with two minors, aged 11 and 13, and distributed child pornography and obscene material through internet-based applications in an effort to get underage girls to engage in sexually explicit conduct. Authorities found child pornography on three of his devices after executing a search warrant.
After serving his sentence, Jones will be subject to a 15-year supervised release. He is barred from possessing internet-capable devices and having contact with minors. Additionally, he must register as a sex offender.
U.S. Attorney Sean P. Costello of the Southern District of Alabama announced the sentencing.
The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office. Assistant U.S. Attorney Tandice H. Blackwood prosecuted the case for the United States.
This prosecution falls under Project Safe Childhood, an initiative started by the Department of Justice in May 2006 aimed at fighting child sexual exploitation and abuse by coordinating federal, state, and local resources to find offenders and help victims.
