Governor Kay Ivey has announced the allocation of over $3.7 million in state funding for 13 road projects across Alabama. This marks the final round of funding for this year under the Alabama Department of Transportation's (ALDOT) Annual Grant Program, established by the Rebuild Alabama Act. The act, passed by the Legislature and signed into law by Governor Ivey in 2019, mandates ALDOT to allocate at least $10 million annually from gas tax revenue for local infrastructure projects.

Governor Ivey said, "Supporting all Alabama citizens for generations to come has always been my mission. From our students’ education to the state’s infrastructure, Alabama continues to make strides for future generations of Alabamians." She emphasized that through the Rebuild Alabama Act, significant investments are being made in local roads and bridges throughout the state.

The awarded projects have also received more than $2.4 million in local matching funds from cities and counties. These projects must commence within a year of receiving funds. Since its inception, ALDOT's Annual Grant Program has distributed over $70 million for local transportation initiatives, enabling more than 500 road and bridge projects across all 67 counties in Alabama.
