Governor Kay Ivey and Alabama Department of Agriculture & Industries Commissioner Rick Pate have declared October 12th as Farmers’ Day in Alabama. The announcement took place at SweetCreek Farm Market in Pike Road, Alabama. This proclamation underscores the significant contribution of farmers to the state's economy, amounting to $77.3 billion annually.

Commissioner Rick Pate emphasized the vital role of farmers in the community, stating, "Alabama farmers are the backbone of our communities. They work tirelessly to put food on our tables, clothes on our backs and keep our rural economies strong." He further noted that Farmers’ Day and the Thank A Farmer initiative aim to foster a greater appreciation for those whose efforts sustain society.
