A Daphne resident, Robert Keith Corte, Jr., 35, has been sentenced to 90 months in federal prison for his involvement in a methamphetamine-trafficking conspiracy and for possessing methamphetamine with intent to distribute. The sentencing follows multiple incidents in September and October 2023 where Corte sold methamphetamine to confidential informants in Baldwin County, Alabama.

Law enforcement officials executed a search warrant at Corte’s apartment on October 16, 2023. During the search, agents found more than 185 grams of methamphetamine along with drug paraphernalia. According to court documents, Corte admitted ownership of the drugs and stated that he had recently traveled to Pensacola, Florida, to acquire methamphetamine for distribution in Baldwin County. Investigators also discovered numerous text messages on Corte’s cell phone detailing his drug-related activities.

At the time of his arrest, Corte was already under federal supervised release due to a previous conviction for methamphetamine trafficking.

Chief United States District Judge Jeffrey U. Beaverstock imposed a ten-year term of supervised release following Corte's prison sentence. During this period, Corte will be required to undergo drug testing and treatment as well as mental health evaluation and treatment. No fine was imposed; however, Corte must pay $200 in special assessments.

U.S. Attorney Sean P. Costello of the Southern District of Alabama announced the sentencing.

The investigation was conducted by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office. Assistant U.S. Attorney Justin Roller prosecuted the case.

This prosecution is part of Operation Take Back America, an initiative by the Department of Justice aimed at combating illegal immigration and eliminating cartels and transnational criminal organizations through efforts such as Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETFs) and Project Safe Neighborhood (PSN).
