Drivers in Lauderdale County should prepare for daytime lane closures on US-72/Florence Boulevard over the next month. Grayson Carter and Son Contracting is working to widen approximately two miles of the corridor from Indian Springs Drive to Sky Park Drive, west of Shoal Creek, expanding it to six lanes. The contractor will close single lanes in either direction daily from Monday, June 30, through late July or early August.
To minimize disruption during peak travel hours, closures are scheduled between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. for westbound traffic and from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. for eastbound traffic. Drivers are advised to expect delays and allocate extra travel time during these periods.

The $24 million project is funded by a Better Utilizing Investments to Leverage Development grant obtained by Lauderdale County, along with state and federal funding.
