The Taylor Highway in Alaska is now accessible to travelers, as announced by the Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF). Throughout the summer, the DOT&PF will conduct regular maintenance operations until October 15.

DOT&PF maintenance crews have been working since early March, focusing on snow removal and the thawing of culverts to enhance the road's conditions. Currently, road conditions vary from fair to difficult due to soft shoulders and a wet, rough, patchy roadway. As a result, there is an advisory 35-mile-per-hour speed limit in place.

Travelers are asked to be vigilant for maintenance crews and prepared for remote travel. They should carry essential emergency supplies such as food, water, first aid kits, appropriate clothing, and spare tires. Services are scarce along this route, with limited gas stations, no cell coverage, and camping options.

It is important to note that the Top of the World Highway remains closed. Seasonal weight restrictions are still active and should be checked before travel.
