U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) has joined 17 other senators in introducing a resolution to designate September 2025 as “National Literacy Month.” As Chairman of the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Subcommittee on Education and the American Family, Tuberville stated his commitment to improving child literacy and educational outcomes.
“Our youth are the future of this country,” said Sen. Tuberville. “We spend more money on education than any other country and yet have too many students who are slipping through the cracks. That is unacceptable, and we must do better. As Alabama’s representative on the Senate HELP Committee, I’m 100% committed to doing whatever it takes to make sure Alabama’s kids are set up for success both in the classroom and in life.”
The resolution is cosponsored by Senators Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), Lisa Blunt Rochester (D-DE), Katie Britt (R-AL), Bill Cassidy (R-LA), Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV), John Cornyn (R-TX), Dick Durbin (D-IL), Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY), Martin Heinrich (D-NM), Mazie Hirono (D-HI), Jon Husted (R-OH), Jim Justice (R-WV), Angus King (I-ME), James Lankford (R-OK), Jack Reed (D-RI), Chris Van Hollen (D-MD), and Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI).
Senator Tuberville serves on several committees including Armed Services, Agriculture, Veterans’ Affairs, HELP, and Aging.
