U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-AL), along with Senators Roger Marshall (R-KS) and Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), has introduced a resolution to impose six-year term limits on the Senate Parliamentarian. The Parliamentarian is responsible for advising the United States Senate on rules, procedures, and precedents.
Senator Tuberville expressed concern about the current Parliamentarian's influence, stating, "The woke, Radical Left Senate Parliamentarian, who was appointed by Harry Reid and was an advisor to Al Gore, is actively trying to undermine President Trump’s agenda." He continued, "Unelected bureaucrats should not be able to overturn the will of the 77 million Americans who voted for President Trump and his agenda. This is exactly why Americans hate the swamp. Proud to join my friend Senator Roger Marshall in introducing this resolution imposing 6-year term limits for the Senate Parliamentarian."
Currently, the Parliamentarian serves at the discretion of the Secretary of the Senate, who is selected by the Senate Majority Leader. Historically, since 1981 only three individuals have held this position, each serving an average of 15 years.
Senator Tuberville represents Alabama in the U.S. Senate and serves on several committees including Armed Services, Agriculture, Veterans’ Affairs, HELP, and Aging.
