U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) introduced Randall (Randy) Jones as Alabama’s nominee for the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) Board of Directors during a Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works hearing. The TVA, established by Congress in 1933, operates under a nine-member board, with members nominated by the President and confirmed by the Senate for five-year terms. The board currently has three members, below the five required for a quorum, which underscores the urgency for the Senate to confirm pending nominees.
During his remarks, Senator Tuberville stated: “Madam Chair and Ranking Member, it’s my honor to introduce my good friend and fellow Alabamian, Mr. Randy Jones of Guntersville, Alabama, to represent the state of Alabama on the one seat that we have on the TVA board. Randy is a proud business owner and a civic servant of North Alabama. Over 45 years, he’s started his own insurance agency and has grown it substantially over the years, making him a big player in the state of Alabama.
For 17 years, Randy has served on the Guntersville Electric Board where he oversaw a $12.8 million expansion of the system while keeping their debt low, which is very important. He has also served on the Business Council and Renewal Commission of Alabama and Jacksonville State University’s Board of Directors where he oversaw significant infrastructure and economic development efforts across our state. Mr. Jones’ strong background in business and civil service sets him up to be a valuable board member of the TVA.
I am grateful for the hard work he’s done so far in Alabama and look forward to working with him on the TVA Board. Thank you for being here today, Randy Jones. Thank you.”
Senator Tuberville serves on several Senate committees, including Armed Services, Agriculture, Veterans’ Affairs, HELP, and Aging.
