The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) is organizing a public meeting to discuss a proposed resurfacing project on State Route 14 in Greensboro. The event will take place at Greensboro City Hall in Hale County on Thursday, August 28, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

This meeting will follow a come-and-go format, allowing attendees to view exhibits and speak with ALDOT representatives about the project aimed at improving traffic flow and safety. A significant part of the plan includes implementing a road diet along the route. Specifically, the current four-lane section between Main Street and Tuscaloosa Street will be reconfigured into two travel lanes with a two-way center left turn lane.

According to studies by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), a three-lane configuration can manage similar traffic volumes as a four-lane undivided road, often more efficiently. For those unable to attend, project maps and comment forms are accessible online.

Greensboro City Hall is located at 1101 Main Street, Greensboro, AL 36744.
