The US-72/Florence Boulevard widening project in Lauderdale County will switch back to nighttime lane closures for most operations. This decision comes after daytime lane closures caused significant travel delays, despite being more suitable for the current work of asphalt leveling. The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) advises that single-lane closures will occur from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m., Sunday through Thursday nights. However, daytime lane closures may still happen occasionally if necessary. For real-time traffic updates and road conditions, motorists are encouraged to visit ALGOtraffic.com or use the ALGO Traffic app. ALDOT expects the $24 million project, which aims to add additional lanes, to be completed by next summer.
