The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) has announced plans to conduct pavement testing on SR-7 (US-11) in Jefferson County, starting Thursday, July 10, 2025. The testing will take place from I-459 to Watterson Parkway.
During the operation, the northbound and southbound outside lanes on SR-7 (US-11) will be temporarily closed one lane at a time between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. ALDOT warns motorists to expect delays and suggests considering alternate routes or adjusting travel times.
Motorists are advised to observe work zone speed limits and signs, and exercise caution in the area. "ALDOT thanks motorists for their patience during this Maintenance Operation to improve Alabama’s roadways," the department said.
ALDOT's mission is "to provide a safe, efficient, environmentally sound transportation network across Alabama." More information can be found on their website at www.dot.state.al.us.
