The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) has announced planned lane closures on US-280 in Jefferson County. Starting at 7 p.m. on July 7, 2025, the westbound right lane will be closed for milling, with an additional closure of the two westbound right lanes beginning at 9 p.m. The eastbound right lane will also be closed for saw cutting. These closures are expected to last until approximately 6 a.m. on July 8, 2025.
The same schedule will apply from July 8 through July 10, with closures occurring each night from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. ALDOT advises motorists to consider alternate routes and adjust travel times accordingly. Drivers are urged to observe work zone speed limits and signs and exercise caution in the area.
"ALDOT thanks motorists for their patience during this construction operation to improve Alabama’s roadways," the department said. ALDOT aims to maintain "a safe, efficient, environmentally sound transportation network across Alabama." For more information, visit www.dot.state.al.us.
