A paving project on State Route 291 in Gadsden is set to commence next week, contingent on weather conditions. The $1.1 million initiative involves milling and resurfacing the entire stretch of SR-291 from US-431/US-278 to SR-759, covering approximately one mile.
Motorists should prepare for single-lane closures between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m., from Sunday nights through Thursday nights, once resurfacing begins. Initially, work will focus on concrete curb ramp repairs during the day, causing intermittent closures of side streets only.
The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) expects the project, carried out by contractor Alabama Grading and Excavation, to be completed this fall. For updates on traffic and road conditions, visit ALGOtraffic.com or use the ALGO Traffic app.
