State bridge inspectors are scheduled to inspect the northbound SR-77 bridge over the Coosa River, located between Southside and Rainbow City, on Monday, July 7. The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) will close the one-lane "Little Bridge," a truss bridge built in 1939, from approximately 8 a.m. until the inspection is finished. During this period, northbound traffic will be redirected to one lane of the southbound bridge.

On Tuesday, July 8, inspectors will shift their focus to the southbound bridge. This will involve alternating single-lane closures between the two southbound lanes. Together, these bridges accommodate about 25,000 vehicles each day.

ALDOT is currently working on a plan to replace the northbound bridge with a modern two-lane structure. For real-time updates on traffic and road conditions, visit ALGOtraffic.com or download the ALGO Traffic app.
