The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) is set to begin a resurfacing project on State Route 87 in Coffee County, starting Monday, June 30, weather permitting. The project will cover nearly eight miles from State Route 134 to East Davis Street in Elba.

Asphalt Paving Systems, Inc., based in Hammonton, New Jersey, secured the contract with a bid of $988,599.87. The work is anticipated to be completed by late summer or early fall of 2025.

Motorists should prepare for minor delays and occasional lane closures during the project's duration. ALDOT advises drivers to plan their routes accordingly and exercise caution around work zones. For real-time traffic updates, ALGO Traffic is available as a resource.
