Pedestrian bridge installation prompts temporary US-31 closure in Vestavia Hills

US-31 in Vestavia Hills will be temporarily closed on Sunday, June 22, starting at 10:30 p.m. to facilitate the setting of a pedestrian bridge. The closure will extend from Waldridge Road to Merryvale Road and is expected to last until 6 a.m. the following morning.

Local traffic will be permitted to detour via Waldridge Road and Merryvale Road as per instructions from Vestavia Hills authorities. Motorists are advised to consider alternate routes, adjust their travel schedules, and adhere to work zone speed limits. Additionally, drivers should pay attention to other work zone signs and exercise caution in the area.
