Personnel from ALEA’s Motor Carrier Safety Unit, which is part of the Agency’s Highway Patrol Division, focus on commercial motor vehicle safety.
Recently, Troopers and support staff from the unit hosted more than 50 representatives from 11 states at a regional commercial motor vehicle safety conference in Huntsville. During the Southern Region Motor Carrier Safety Assistance Program (MCSAP) Commanders Commercial Vehicle Safety Planning (CVSP) Meeting, the group discussed such topics as crash analytics, crash reduction strategies, data sharing, roadside inspection planning and best practices, as well as traffic enforcement, education and outreach. The program featured members of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), with opening remarks from ALEA’s newly appointed Colonel Jonathan Archer and the Southern Region’s Field Administrator Dr. Georgia Steele. The Agency's Honor Guard also participated with the presentation of colors.
