ALABAMA STATE UNIVERSITY: ​National Center Sponsors Virtual Art Show

Alabama State University issued the following announcement on Sept. 10.

The National Center for the Study of Civil Rights and African-American Culture at Alabama State University is hosting the 2020 Colvin-Feagin Virtual Community Art Show beginning Monday, Sept. 14. The show will run for a year.

The community art show was created to honor the contributions of renowned ASU alumni and art legends Dr. William E. Colvin and John W. Feagin to the growth of African-American art, both as a scholarly discipline and as a creative endeavor.

The show has become the National Center’s premier exhibit to showcase the artist talents of the ASU family, as well as other talented local and regional artists who interpret the spirit of the civil rights movement and the African-American experience as a whole.

The theme for the show centers on voting rights.

Participating artists include Dr. William Colvin, John Feagin, Mary Gambles Boone, Ricky Calloway, Amelia Chase, Jahari Foster, Andre Jamal, Tamika Johnson, Shrisma Kimbrough, Tim Lennox, Johnnie Mae Mayberry, Felix Moorer, Riche Richardson, Robert Shealey and Cleve Webber.
