The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) has informed drivers to anticipate delays during the day due to paving work on US-72 East in Huntsville. The Rogers Group is set to begin paving at the intersections of US-72 with Shields Road and Moores Mill Road starting Thursday, November 6. This work is part of a $4 million resurfacing project covering 6.5 miles from Moores Mill Road to east of the Flint River.

Most of the paving for this project has been conducted at night. However, with nighttime temperatures dropping below the required minimums for the paving mix, ALDOT has allowed work to proceed during restricted daytime hours. According to ALDOT, single-lane closures westbound will not start until after 9 a.m., and eastbound lane closures will be lifted by 3 p.m.

Both ALDOT and the contractor will keep an eye on traffic conditions and make adjustments to lane closures and work schedules as necessary. For real-time updates on traffic and road conditions, motorists can visit ALGOtraffic.com or use the ALGO Traffic app.
