U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) appeared on Fox Business’s "Kudlow" to discuss the ongoing federal government shutdown and the current impasse in Congress. Tuberville criticized Senate Democrats for what he described as repeated votes against reopening the government.

During the interview, host Larry Kudlow noted that air traffic controllers would not be paid, food stamp payments could be halted by November 1, and that approximately 800,000 federal employees would miss paychecks if the shutdown continued. Kudlow also mentioned that a recent vote marked the thirteenth unsuccessful attempt to end the shutdown.

Tuberville responded by saying, “Yeah. I get a lot of Left-wing media questions here in the Capitol, and it’s all about, ‘What are we gonna do?’ Wait a minute. The Democrats have voted 13 times to shut the government down. 13 times not to pay our veterans, not to pay our troops, and to cut SNAP cards. I mean, this is the Democrats. And so, we’re gonna have to probably, Larry, at the end of the day, if they continue to say, ‘Listen, this is all about politics, we don’t care about the American people, we’re not gonna pass anything.’ We’re gonna have to bust the filibuster. That’s what’s gonna have to happen. And I hate to say that. I’m not one to do that, but at the end of the day, if we ever lose the Senate, they’re gonna do it anyway. And so we better start thinking down the road, but the Democrats could care less about this country or the people in this country. They wanna shut it down. They wanna keep it shut down because it’s politics all the way with Chuck Schumer. He is bound and determined to not let AOC get in this race to beat him for the New York Senate seat, but I hope that happens.”

Kudlow concluded by thanking Tuberville: “Well, we’ll see. Senator Tommy Tuberville. Thank you, sir. We appreciate your wisdom, as always.”

Senator Tuberville serves on several Senate committees including Armed Services; Agriculture; Veterans’ Affairs; Health Education Labor & Pensions (HELP); and Aging.
