Beginning June 17, the Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) will implement periodic closures of the southbound entrance and exit ramps at the I-65/SR-160 interchange in Blount County. The closures are scheduled to start at 9 a.m. and conclude by 2 p.m., weather permitting, as part of paving operations.
For those affected by the closure of the exit ramp from I-65 southbound, message boards will guide motorists to Exit 282 for a detour back to I-65 northbound, allowing them to access SR-160 from there. In case of the entrance ramp closure on I-65 southbound, motorists will be directed via message boards to use US-31 southbound. Alternative entry points to I-65 southbound include Cane Creek Road, Old US-31, or a service road.
These traffic adjustments will also be in effect on June 18 and June 19. ALDOT advises drivers to consider alternate routes and adjust their travel schedules accordingly. Motorists are urged to observe work zone speed limits and signs while exercising caution in the area.
