WASHINGTON — On May 17, Dr. Stephen Taylor of Birmingham testified in a U.S. Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Subcommittee on Primary Health and Retirement Security hearing titled “A Crisis in Mental Health and Substance Use Disorder Care.”
Dr. Taylor is currently completing his 13th season as the Medical Director of the Player Assistance and Anti-Drug Program of the NBA and the National Basketball Players Association. He also serves as the Chief Medical Officer of Pathway Healthcare’s Behavioral Health Division and is President-Elect of the American Society of Addiction Medicine. During the hearing, Dr. Taylor spoke about the work that is needed to combat the mental health crisis in our country.
Senator Tuberville (R-AL), Alabama’s voice on the Senate HELP Committee, introduced Dr. Taylor to fellow committee members:
