Tammy West, owner and creative director of Glow Floral Event Design in Tuscaloosa, has been chosen to help decorate the White House for the upcoming holiday season. Her business is a member of the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB).

West described the selection process to Yellowhammer News: “We submitted everything and then waited about two months to hear back…. We were approved pending the background check, and then just a few days ago, we got the email — we’re in.”

Her team will travel to Washington for a week leading up to the White House Christmas Party on December 1. West said, “I have no idea exactly what we’ll be working on. But I’m sure we’ll be covered in glitter the whole time.”

Rosemary Elebash, NFIB State Director, commented on West’s achievement: “Tammy West represents the best of Alabama small business—creativity, determination, and community pride." Elebash added, “It’s inspiring to see one of our own members recognized on a national stage like this.”

Glow Floral Event Design began as a home-based business during the pandemic. Since then, it has grown into a downtown studio known for its personalized arrangements and event designs. Speaking about her participation in decorating the White House, West told Yellowhammer News: “To be able to represent Tuscaloosa and Alabama at the White House is such an incredible honor.”
