AUBURN PUBLIC LIBRARY: Downtown Design Review Committee applications available through March 30

Auburn Public Library recently issued the following announcement.

The Auburn City Council is now accepting applications to fill a vacancy on the Downtown Design Review Committee. The term will begin on April 18, 2020, and end on April 17, 2026.

The Downtown Design Review Committee reviews current design standards and proposed developments in the Urban Core Zoning District and College Edge Overlay District to offer suggestions that promote the ambiance and character envisioned by the Auburn Downtown Master Plan.

The board has five members that serve six-year terms. Three members are appointed by the Auburn City Council, and two City staff members are appointed to the committee by the city manager. Members must be knowledgeable in one or more of the following fields: urban planning, urban design, architecture and downtown redevelopment. A minimum of two members must possess degrees and certifications necessary to demonstrate expertise in urban planning, urban design, architecture and downtown redevelopment.

Those interested in serving are invited to apply online using the link at auburnalabama.org/boards. Applications will be accepted until 5 p.m. on March 30. The City Council will make appointments at its April 7 meeting.
